Why Brightly Credits?

How it Works…

  • We partner with Food Rescue Organizations (FROs) who rescue surplus food from a variety of sources and deliver it to food banks and food pantries around the country.

  • We work with our FRO partners to collect data on the types and amounts of food recovered and use this information to evaluate the emissions they’ve helped avoid.

  • We have this data verified by third parties to ensure the accuracy of the collected information and calculations that generate that total volume of avoided emissions. This ensures end-to-end transparency and integrity.

  • The verified data is submitted to Verra, who mint Brightly Credits in accordance with their Verified Carbon Standard™ program and in line with the latest standards from the International Council on Voluntary Carbon Markets (ICVCM) and the Voluntary Carbon Markets Initiative (VCMI).
